Supporting young entrepreneurs in saving our planet
For nearly 3 decades, the UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for global climate summits, these are called COPs, standing for ‘Conference of the Parties’.
In that time climate change has gone from being a fringe issue to a global priority.
Last year was the 26th annual summit - giving it the name COP26 - which was held for the first time in the UK.
Taking inspiration from this most recent COP, SiGNAL Bordon have teamed up with Cygnets Day Nurseries Bordon to award one young entrepreneur seed funding of £2,000. We are specifically on the hunt for people aged 18 -25 and living in or around Bordon who have a business idea which has a positive impact on the environment.
The sustainable business sector has grown enormously in recent years, attracting plenty of new investors. The uprise of environmentally friendly businesses is testimony to how seriously the UK now views climate change.
Start-ups with a specific environmental focus support the development of a green economy and help to promote sustainable living across the nation. An important study by Deloitte, (for Study), found that 28% of consumers have stopped buying certain products due to ethical or environmental reasons.
People want environmentally friendly products and services, and businesses are encouraged to get to that net-zero target by 2050.
We are looking for business proposals where the product/service, manufacturing, and business activities address environmental concerns. Sustainability is to be at the core and the idea is to be original and deliverable.
We are asking applicants to be from Bordon and the surrounding areas. SiGNAL were established to support the regeneration of the town and neighbouring areas, and we have an ongoing commitment to our local community and economy.
By offering this seed funding to local entrepreneurs we can wholly support you on your business journey, as well as continuing our contribution to the healthy economy of this part of East Hampshire.
